February Nature Journal

Focus Point:  Find two contrasting "natural" shapes of "beings". Sketch and describe each. Details in your sketch and written description of the "being" should indicate: color, size, texture, specific location and diversity (how common or  how uncommon).

Reflection

Thoreau went to the woods by Walden Pond to learn about nature and himself. He observed nature and reflected on what it had to teach him about life and his place in the universe.

Read the following passage from Walden,  Thoreau's account of his two years in the woods, and reflect upon Thoreau's experiences as a nature journaler and your own.

"I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours" (Thoreau).
