How to: Reading

The standard area of  "Reading" is one of three standards areas in our local benchmarks and corresponds with our state and national standards.

Reader's responses such as reading journals, double entries, comic strips and triple entries provide you with a method and tools to:

  • actively engage with & reflect upon the reading
  • keep a record of your evolving process of text analysis
  • develop critical thinking skills
  • develop an independent literary analysis of a text

In addition to formal papers and projects, essay tests provide you with the opportunity to use your reader's responses to create a response to literature which reflects your critical thinking skills.
