Focus Point: Look for a being whose identity seems changed/transfigured by the winter. Details in your sketch and written description of the "being" should indicate: color, size, texture, specific location and diversity (how common or uncommon).
Reflection:
Thoreau went to the woods by Walden Pond to learn about nature and himself. He observed nature and reflected on what it had to teach him about life and his place in the universe.
Read the following passage from Walden, Thoreau's account of his two years in the woods, and reflect upon Thoreau's experiences as a nature journaler and your own.
“The surface of the earth is soft and impressible by the feet of men; and so with the paths which the mind travels. How worn and dusty, then, must be the highways of the world, how deep the ruts of tradition and conformity” (Thoreau)!
