October Nature Journal

Focus Point:  Find a "being" different from the one you sketched in September. Focus in and then sketch. Details in your sketch and written description of the "being" should indicate: color, size, texture, specific location and diversity (common or uncommon).

Reflection

Thoreau went to the woods by Walden Pond to learn about nature and himself. He observed nature and reflected on what it had to teach him about life and his place in the universe.

Read the following passage from Walden,  Thoreau's account of his two years in the woods, and reflect upon Thoreau's experiences as a nature journaler and your own.

" The phenomena of the year take place every day…the day is an epitome of the year. The night is the winter, the morning and evening are the spring and fall, and the noon is the summer" (Thoreau).
